In March 2013, project partner Arbeitskreis Eltern Behinderter (AEB) organised a national event to introduce the 'New Paths to InclUsion Network' at the University of Bolzano. The conference brought together experts on person centred planning from different countries, professionals, people with intellectual disabilities and families to discuss the objectives and challenges of person centred planning in Italy and across Europe.

AEBconfParticipants heard from Margot Pohl, Maximilian Elsler and John Knapp who worked together on Maximilian's Plan and carried it out. On the basis of their specific experience, they demonstrated how person centred planning can bring about positive changes for persons with intellectual disabilities.

The participants also learned about the German-speaking network on Person Centred Planning founded in November 2012. The network now comprises 147 members, including 33 organisations and 99 individuals from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol.

Following the success of the conference, ABE organised two training courses on person centred planning: one for staff providing support services and people with intellectual disabilities and another one for organisations working in the disability field. A total of 35 people attended the training courses and tested the training curriculum developed by the project 'New Paths to InclUsion'.
